What happens if your wedding date is not available at Honeysuckle Hills? Don’t panic! This year we have a brand-new wedding location called Little Mountain Hideaway. It’s been a part of the Starkey family for well over a century, located only three miles from our main venue.
Little Mountain Hideaway is the most private venue in the mountains you’ll ever find. It borders the National Park, so the only thing you’ll hear are birds singing, the creek tumbling across rocks, and all your guests’ happy chatter and giggles. Many of our guests tell us it reminds them of Cades Cove.
If you’re an outdoorsman, hunter, fisher, hiker, or jeep enthusiast this will tickle your fancy! First, the road that leads to Little Mountain Hideaway is in a forest for a full mile and a half, with the mountain stream following you all the way up. It will remind you of driving on roads like Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, only without a long line of tourists ahead of you. The only people who live on this road are my son, uncle Bill, and one other neighbor.
The old house was my great-grandfather’s and he lived happily with his loving wife there for many years. They farmed tobacco, corn and chickens. It was a simple, happy life. The house has been slightly remodeled since way back then… which you’ll appreciate. There are now two indoor bathrooms, along with a cozy area to get dressed. You will become a part of history here!
So how did we end up with such a treasure in the Gatlinburg Smoky Mountains? Well, my sister inherited it in 2014 and tried weddings for a while. Since she’s an accountant and loves riding her horses on weekends instead of working overtime… well… you get the picture. She graciously handed over the venue to her favorite sister (me!) who loves weddings more than a squirrel loves nuts.
So if Regina is at Honeysuckle Hills… who will take care of you at Little Mountain Hideaway? Rest assured you’re still going to be treated with the same southern hospitality our family has been known for since 2006. Our family has a reliable, friendly staff of coordinators if you need one. Regina can still be your photographer as long as she’s not booked at Honeysuckle Hills. Her assistant, Emily, has blossomed into quite the photographer herself, too! We will make sure you feel like one of the cousins before all is said and done.
Little Mountain Hideaway can be reserved for private elopements, all-inclusive weddings for up to 30 guests, or DIY venue only rental for the day. The choice is yours… select a wedding with one of Chef Tony’s delicious buffet receptions and wedding cake, or tell your family to bring a covered dish, potluck style.
While Little Mountain does have decorations you’re welcome to use, the ceremony sites are there to decorate as you please. A basic white flower garland can be placed on the outdoor arbors, or feel free to make it your masterpiece!
Come see how a wedding can be an adventure instead of a stressful, crazy mess! No one will ever believe you found such a treasure, and your wedding will be talked about for years on end. We’re waiting for you… come get married at Little Mountain Hideaway in Gatlinburg, TN!
