Choosing Your December 2025 Wedding Date

December is a moderately busy month for weddings in the Smoky Mountains, mainly due to the Winterfest celebration in Pigeon Forge. It’s a more popular month for surprise engagements, so don’t be surprised to see those happen spontaneously at places like Anakeesta, the Pigeon Forge Greenway, or along the Foothills Parkway. I try to only schedule smaller weddings at the Honeysuckle Hills wedding venue only on Saturdays, because I need every day possible to edit and deliver wedding photographs taken in the fall. That said, my venue is slower only because I choose for it to be. I particularly value the days off leading up to Christmas to spend time with my family.

The weather in December averages in the low 50’s with the occasional swings in the 60’s or lower 20’s. It is less common to see snow in December in the Smoky Mountains than you think, but not impossible. I remember being snowed in for a week on the mountain during Christmas of 2020.

What’s in Bloom: There is nothing in bloom at the Honeysuckle Hills wedding venue in the month of December. The landscapers typically come in right after Thanksgiving to tidy up our flower beds and tuck them in with a fresh blanket of mulch. Our chapel is the most popular wedding ceremony location because of its cozy Christmas feel with the white string lights, candelabras and flickering lanterns. We absolutely still do wedding photographs outside, using hardscape features such as the bridges, fences, creek and barn walls.

The most popular wedding dates in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg for the month of December in 2025 are the 20th, 21st, 28th, and 31st. The dates surrounding Christmas and New Year’s Eve will be the most sought after.
