Mountain Waterfall

Wedding photographs at a waterfall in the Smoky Mountains are magical!  The waterfall next door to my historic mountain home, only three miles from the main venue, may be used for wedding photographs or a ceremony if it’s just the two of you.  This unique location is booked sparingly because it is not only next to my home, but also my vacation rental at the top of the hill called Starkey’s Homestead.  There is no long hike to this waterfall, nor is a government permit required because it is on private land.  The Smoky Mountain National Park borders the waterfall, and you’ll love the drive through the forest in historic Starkeytown alongside Mill Creek to get there.  The waterfall is man-made, but you’d never know if I didn’t tell you.  The benefits of this is consistent waterflow even in the hot, dry summer months.  (Most mountain waterfalls are reduced to a tiny trickle in July through November.)  It’s also viewed from flat land, making a hike unnecessary.

A historic, almost 100 year old leaning barn is close to the waterfall, so be sure to get photos with it in the background!   A small pavilion will keep the rain off long enough for photographs if you’re unable to change the photography time at this site.

The waterfall may be used for photos with our mini wedding or the luxury elopement packages.  Keep in mind if you book a mini wedding there’s a round trip travel time of fifteen minutes, so I always recommend the mini wedding plus or deluxe to make sure you have enough time to fit in this location, especially if you have guests.  If you book the Simply I Do package, all images will be done at the waterfall because of the much shorter time period included for ceremony & photos.  If you’ve booked a wedding with reception, simply ask me to include time in your itinerary to use the waterfall.  It pulls together the perfect mountain wedding adventure!
